Today, May 9, 2022, eligible Michigan auto-owners should have received a $400 auto refund check for each eligible vehicle. As of June 2021 the Michigan Castastrophic Claims Associations (MCCA) fund had a $5 billion surplus. The MCCA fund is meant to provide care for auto accident survivors. The Michigan governor called MCCA to transfrer $3 out of the $5 billion back to Michigan insurers to send to eligible Michigan drivers. Some have said this move was purley poltitical considering the upcoming elections this November.
Who is eligibel for an auto refund check?
You must have had an insured vehicle (car, suv, rv, or motorocycle) in Michigan as of October 31, 2021.
What do I need to do?
Mostly likely nothing. You should receive the check in the mail by May 9, 2022. If you haven’t received it, then contact your auto insurance.
